I’m now two weeks into the Clarisonic Challenge, and things have been steadily improving. As you can see, I’ve still got some breakouts, but they’ve lessened somewhat since last week. No more monster-sized pimples, just a smattering on my nose and chin. My skin definitely feels smoother after each use, so it feels like any moisturizer or serum soaks in more effectively. But who knows? This is a long term experiment, as much as I’d like to have the answers right now.
My biggest skin concern – redness – hasn’t shown much of an improvement. But, to be honest I’d be surprised if even after 3 months there was a huge difference. Of course I’m still waiting to find that miracle product, but I’m taking a skeptical approach. Better to be happily surprised than disappointed.
I think the biggest difference the Clarisonic makes is that it forces you to wash your skin for a whole minute. Before that, I spent maybe 15 seconds washing my face. Next time you do, time it. I’m sure it’ll be much shorter than you think. And just like handwashing, it takes time to get all those germs and dirt off.
I won’t be bringing the Clarisonic home with me for Thanksgiving. That just seems a little … excessive. But for the purposes of this experiment, I’ll try to wash my face the full 60 seconds.
